Maifest
Take a drive through the majestic Cascade mountain range to the most enchanting village in Washington. At noon on Saturday you hear the Alp horn opening the annual Maifest celebration. A wave of town people wearing lederhosen (leather pants) and dresses (dirndls) parade down along with goats, horse-drawn wagons, and Bernese Mountain dogs.Flowers are blooming in baskets throughout the town. This is all set in a picture postcard setting with snowcapped mountains, vibrant green hills, lush evergreens and the smells of gingerbread and sauerkraut permeate the senses.
Oompa music plays while traditional folk dancers prepare the crowd for the popular maibaum dance. Local bands perform throughout the afternoon and artists are displaying their wares.
When it’s time for a break, there are benches and a quiet trail meandering along the river, located right behind the town on Blackbird Island

2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. WHITTIER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHOIR
The Whittier Elementary Choir in Seattle has delighted audiences with a variety of musical styles and youthful energy. Choir members range from first to fifth grade. The choir has performed for the Winterfest, International Children's Festival in Canda and most recently at Benaroya hall in Seattle.
6 p.m. -7 p.m. ALPEN FOLK
Alpen Folk presents the music and folklore of the alps! With authentic instruments, singing and yodeling, here is alpine music the way it was meant to be played - the way itis played today in the rustic inns and the mountain chalets of Bavaria, the Tyrol, Styria, and throughout the alps!

Join us for our annual Maifest Fun Run. The parent group from Icicle River Middle School will be supporting local businesses and children's education! This is not a timed event and every participant will receive a T-shirt. Parking at the City Pool lot. Meet at the May Pole!

Founded in 2001, Leavenworth's dance group performs folk dances of the German and Austrian people which express their history, cultural heritage and traditions.
11:00 -11:45 a.m. MUSIKKAPELLE LEAVENWORTH (Gazebo - Front St.)
The Bavarian Village's town band, performs at all major Leavenworth festivals and activities. Concert numbers as well as marches, waltzes and polkas typical of Bavaria.
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. KID CALYPSO (Gingerbread Factory - Commercial St.)
A wonderful addition to the Maifest celebration! Coming to us from the Tri-Cities area, Kid Calypso, a collection of 22, 3rd - 5th grade steel drum performers, will entertain our visitors with young talent and enthusiasm.
12 p.m. PARADE AND GRAND MARCH
Townspeople and visitors in Bavarian garb, horses and carriages, Leavenworth's Bierwagen, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Vintage Volkswagens and more. Join in the Grand March and Procession! Join Maifest dignitaries and guests celebrating Maifest in Leavenworth.
12:45 p.m. HERZLICH WILLKOMMEN - Opening Ceremonies A Heartfelt Welcome
Dignitaries will bid farewell to our 2009 Junior miss and Royal Lady and welcome our 2010 Royalty. Join us with the Burgermeister, Rob Eaton, for all the fun and fanfare.
