Marriage License Requirements

Both parties must be 18 or older (if 17 a consent parent/guardian who brings ID) must accompany each under age party. If 16, they must obtain a court order from juvenile court. There is a 3 day waiting period before the license can be used (calendar days). The license is then good for 60 days. The fee is $47. You have the option to prepay for a certified copy to be sent after the wedding for an additional $3 ($50 total). A license obtained in Washington is valid anywhere in the State.

Both parties need to come to the Recording Department* and present photo ID anytime between 9-5:00, Monday - Friday. The process takes 20 minutes.

Each party will need to know their social security number and the state/country where each parent is born. Those without social security number will be given the opportunity to sign an affidavit stating such.

*If one or both parties cannot come in, we can prepare an application packet that can either be picked up at the Auditor's office (preferred) or mailed. Requests for packets to be mailed can be sent to the email address below or phoned in. Please allow 1 month if you are planning on completing the application process by mail.
